DECEMBER 27 - QUEBEC AIRPORT
ACTIVITIES: EXPLORE THE CITY & SHOPPING

Welcome to the birthplace of French culture in North America, Quebec City. For your accommodation tonight we have chosen a charming downtown hotel, the Chateau Laurier***, where you will receive a warm welcome and spend a comfortable night adjusting to the time difference. There you will find your Authentik travel book, with all the details of your adventure including a road map indicating your route, as well as a personalized roadbook, a host of practical tourist information, a toll-free assistance number, vouchers, etc.

Take advantage of your time in the Capital City to do some last-minute shopping for winter gear - the prices are much lower here in Canada than in Europe.

DECEMBER 28 - QUEBEC / SAGUENAY FJORD (300 km)
ACTIVITIES: WELCOME AND COUNTRY-STYLE DINNER


After breakfast, you pick up your rental car (or board the bus, if that is the option you have chosen) and set out for the Saguenay Fjord via one of Quebec's most scenic routes. You will eat lunch along the way (not included).

For the next few days, you will be staying at Fjord Outfitter, in a typical Canadian wood cabin on a headland of Saguenay Fjord, with an unrestricted view of the postcard-perfect landscape. The Outfitter offers country-style cooking and activities such as snowmobiling, dog sledding, meeting a trapper, contact with Arctic wolves,... A dream location in the heart of Canada's wild open spaces.

Dinner with a local flavour and your first night in your Canadian cabin.

 

DECEMBER 29 - SAGUENAY FJORD
ACTIVITY: 1/2 DAY OF DOG SLEDDING

Breakfast. Today you will experience winter in its most pristine beauty - by dog sled. At the reins of your team of Siberian Huskies, you will glide through the incredible stillness of the boreal forest. A day spent crossing the immense whiteness that is Canada, land of lakes and rivers.

Dinner by a cozy fire, and another night in your Canadian cabin.

DECEMBER 30 - SAGUENAY FJORD
ACTIVITIES: SNOWSHOEING AND MEETING A TRAPPER


Breakfast. During this day of winter adventures, you will accompany a true nature lover on a trek through the forest, where you will experience various aspects of forest life, and discover the rich secret world of this fascinating habitat.

At the end of the afternoon, you are invited to a local home where you will meet a real trapper. The trapper's role is of primary importance in Canadian history: this is a special opportunity to learn about the world of trapping, both today and yesterday.

Return to the outfitter for dinner.

 

 

DECEMBER 31 - SAGUENAY FJORD
ACTIVITY: CONTACT WITH ARCTIC WOLVES


Breakfast. Today, you will accompany your guide as he makes his rounds of the animals on the farm: bison, moose, deer...

Then you will have a chance to demystify the legend of the "big bad wolf". Maya (the female) and Kodiac (the male), our magnificent Arctic wolves, invite you to learn about their lifestyle and social behaviour.

This experience, the only one of its kind in Québec, requires patience and prudence. Little by little, you will be able to get closer and earn the confidence of our wolves. From within a safety perimeter, you will have the chance to feed and, who knows, possibly even caress these legendary wild creatures.

You have the rest of the day off. Take some time to relax and enjoy your magnificent surroundings. After all, you are on holiday! You may go sliding, cross-country skiing, visit and care for the farm animals, tour a sawmill, etc.


TYPICAL NEW YEAR'S EVE
A traditional meal will be served in the main cabin for your New Year's Eve celebration. A musician will get your toes tapping with his lively tunes as you try out some traditional folk dances and experience the authenticity and legendary good humour of the Quebecois, a proud and hospitable people.

JANUARY 1 - SAGUENAY FJORD
ACTIVITY: SNOWMOBILING EXCURSION

Breakfast. Today will be spent discovering the winter wonderland by snowmobile. Let your sense of adventure lead you to the heart of the legendary Saguenay Fjord, with its Arctic landscapes. Your initiation to snowmobiling will take place in an area of the Far North known for its exceptional snow conditions. Return to Fjord Outfitters at the end of the day, for dinner and a good night's sleep in your comfortable wood cabin.
