DECEMBER
21 - QUEBEC / SAGUENAY FJORD
(300 km) For the next few days, you will be staying at Fjord Outfitter, in a typical Canadian wood cabin on a headland of Saguenay Fjord, with an unrestricted view of the postcard-perfect landscape. The Outfitter offers country-style cooking and activities such as snowmobiling, dog sledding, meeting a trapper, contact with Arctic wolves,... A dream location in the heart of Canada's wild open spaces. Dinner with a local flavour and your first night in your Canadian cabin.
Breakfast. Today you will experience winter in its most pristine beauty - by dog sled. At the reins of your team of Siberian Huskies, you will glide through the incredible stillness of the boreal forest. A day spent crossing the immense whiteness that is Canada, land of lakes and rivers. Dinner by a cozy fire, and another night in your Canadian cabin. * EXTEND YOUR DOG SLEDDING ADVENTURE (optional)
At the end of the afternoon, you are invited to a local home where you will meet a real trapper. The trapper's role is of primary
importance in Canadian history: this is a special opportunity to learn about the world of trapping, both today and yesterday.
DECEMBER 24 - SAGUENAY
FJORD Then you will have a chance to demystify the legend of the "big bad wolf". Maya (the female) and Kodiac (the male), our magnificent Arctic wolves, invite you to learn about their lifestyle and social behaviour. This experience, the only one of its kind in Québec, requires patience and prudence. Little by little, you will be able to get closer and earn the confidence of our wolves. From within a safety perimeter, you will have the chance to feed and, who knows, possibly even caress these legendary wild creatures. You have the rest of the day off. Take some time to relax and enjoy your magnificent surroundings. After all, you are on holiday! You may go sliding, cross-country skiing, visit and care for the farm animals, tour a sawmill, etc.
Breakfast. Today will be spent discovering the winter wonderland by snowmobile. Let your sense of adventure lead you to the heart of the legendary Saguenay Fjord, with its Arctic landscapes. Your initiation to snowmobiling will take place in an area of the Far North known for its exceptional snow conditions.
