DAY 1 - Arrival in Vancouver

Welcome to Vancouver, Canada's most beautiful metropolis, ranked as one of the best cities in the world in which to live.

Vancouver is a relatively small city that is best explored on foot.

Spend some time exploring the city's attractions such as Stanley Park and Gastown, and do some shopping on Robson Street and Broadway Avenue.

DAY 2 - Vancouver Victoria ( 116 km / 03h19 )

And let your Canadian road trip adventure begin!

First you take a memorable ferry ride to beautiful Vancouver Island and Victoria, capital of British Columbia.

In Victoria, be sure to take a scenic tour through the historic part of the city, overlooking the ocean. If you're lucky, you may even spot a whale!

The Wharf Street Visitor Centre's Art Deco walking tour also offers a stunning architectural perspective of Victoria.

DAY 3 - Victoria Pacific Rim ( 296 km / 04h08 )

This morning you set out for Ucluelet and Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, a treasure waiting to be discovered.

Along the way, be sure to stop at Cathedral Grove, a sacred place for the First Nations people and a magical place where you will find enormous 800 year old Douglas firs.

Ucluelet is on the edge of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, where you will find the most beautiful beaches in Canada, bordered by lush temperate rainforest.

Today will be dedicated to exploring Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.

The Long Beach section, a long stretch of fine sandy beach pounded by the Pacific surf, is definitely a must-see. Discover this magical place with the help of several easy hiking trails.

You won't want to miss watching the sun set over the ocean from Radar Hill: the view is just incredible!

DAY 5 - Pacific Rim Discovery Islands ( 260 km / 03h42 )

Today you head for the northern end of Vancouver Island and the Discovery Islands.

Along the way, take a walk among the giant 800 year old Douglas firs at Cathedral Grove, a sacred place for the First Nations people. Or pay a visit to Skookumchuck Narrows Provincial Park to see the Sechelt Rapids, which can exceed 3 metres in height, depending on the tides.

Your destination is Quadra Island in the Discovery Islands archipelago. When you reach Quadra Island, the historical centre of Kwagiulth First Nations culture, prepare yourselves for an idyllic nature experience.

DAY 6 - Discovery Islands Port Hardy ( 246 km / 03h19 )

Your next destination is Port Hardy.

Along the way, make a stop in a little out-of-the-way paradise, Telegraph Cove, the best place in the world for orca (killer whale) watching ! This small village will charm you with its small old houses built on piles, lined up along long wooden boardwalk.

Port Hardy is a picturesque small fishing village. Be sure to go hiking in the humid forest of nearby Cape Scott Provincial Park.

DAY 7 - Inside Passage Cruise

Now your adventure leads to Prince Rupert via one of the most spectacular cruises in the world, the Inside Passage. 

No driving today! You set sail on the ''Queen of Prince Rupert'' very early in the morning. A few hours later the fog rises, revealing stunning views of inlets, fjords, wooded islands and the majestic Coastal Mountains.

The cruise ends 16 hours later and 500 km to the north in Prince Rupert, where you spend the night.

DAY 8 - Prince Rupert Stewart ( 456 km / 05h25 )

Today's route follows the Yellowhead Highway along the scenic Skeena River Valley.

The glaciers become larger and closer as you approach Stewart; some are simply dazzling. Stop to admire the magnificent Bear Glacier, with its magical blue glow.

Your final destination is the small town of Stewart, at the head of Portland Canal, a deep fjord marking a natural border between Canada and the United States (Alaska).

Just before sunset, pay a visit to the renowned Fish Creek, where you will see grizzly bears catching and eating salmon in the wild rapids.

DAY 9 - Stewart

We suggest exploring this rugged wilderness with a drive up to the spectacular Salmon Glacier, the fifth largest glacier in the world.

At the end of the day, stop off in the Sealaska Pub for a taste of the gold diggers' drink!

You could also treat yourself to a meal of Snow Crab at the King Edward Hotel.

DAY 10 - Stewart Smithers ( 338 km / 04h19 )

After breakfast, you set out to discover the Gitksan First Nation.

You begin with the village of Hazelton, home to the renowned Ksan Native Village and Museum, a replica of a Gitksan village where visitors can learn about Gixtan culture and watch artists at work.

On your way to Smithers along the Bulkley River you will find a fishing site used by the First Nations for thousands of years. Known today as Moricetown Canyon, here you can observe ancestral salmon fishing methods.

DAY 11 - Smithers Prince George ( 374 km / 04h10 )

The serene beauty of your majestic surroundings will captivate you in the early morning light. Many Europeans, seduced by this village and its way of life, have ended up settling here.

On the way to Prince George, be sure to visit the Fort St. James Historic Site, an authentic fur trading post dating from 1896 and an important part of Canada's history.

DAY 12 - Prince George Jasper ( 379 km / 03h56 )

Today you set out for Jasper National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site.

Along the way, stop for a break at the foot of Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies

With its plentiful elk, bighorn sheep, mule deer and other large mammals and predators, Jasper National Park is one of the last great protected ecosystems in the Rocky Mountains.

DAY 13 - Jasper

You have an entire day to spend in Jasper National Park, the largest of Canada'a Rocky Mountain parks.

Visit the most beautiful attractions, including the picturesque Maligne Lake and Spirit Island, the most photographed island in the world.

Take a hike along the spectacular trails of Maligne Canyon and Mount Edith Cavell.

For families with children or visitors looking for a less strenuous activity, the Peyto Lake trail offers an easy 15-minute walk to spectacular vistas.

DAY 14 - Jasper Lake Louise ( 224 km / 02h51 )

Your next destination is Lake Louise, "Jewel of the Canadian Rockies", via one of the most beautiful roads in the world, the Icefields Parkway.

In Lake Louise, we recommend hiking to the Plain of Six Glaciers. This hike offers a series of glaciers, vaulting peaks and breathtaking high mountain vistas.

Of course, a canoe ride on the emerald waters of Lake Louise is a classic activity for visitors to the region.

DAY 15 - Lake Louise Banff ( 60 km / 00h38 )

Your route continues towards Banff.

Opportunities to see wildlife along the way to Banff are excellent, and are considerably higher during the two hours after sunrise.

Banff is a small mountain town at an elevation of 1380 metres, nestled in a superb alpine setting. 

Be sure to take a relaxing break at the Cave and Basin Hot Springs. After all, you are on holiday!

The mountain trails of Sulphur Mountain will take you up through picture-postcard landscapes, and the summit provides a stunning view across the entire region. A gondola also goes up to the summit.

DAY 16 - Banff Golden ( 91 km / 01h02 )

Next the adventure leads to Yoho National Park with its many attractions including the Emerald Lake trails and Takakkaw Falls.

A canoe ride on the emerald waters of the lake is a classic and romantic activity for visitors to the region, and may prove to be one of the highlights of your honeymoon!

DAY 17 - Golden Ashcroft ( 510 km / 05h37 )

It's time to start to head back west. Your next stop is Ashcroft in the beautiful Cariboo region.

It's time to make your way back to Vancouver via the spectacular ''Sea to Sky'' highway. Its stunning views will take your breath away.
