DAY 1 - Calgary

Welcome to Calgary, in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies.

DAY 2 - Calgary

Calgary is the gateway to the Canadian Rockies.

Be sure to take in the most interesting tourist attractions of Alberta's metropolis and the cowboy capital of Canada: enjoy a spectacular 360° view of the city from the top of the Calgary Tower, do some shopping on 8th Avenue,  visit Glenbow Museum to learn about the Aboriginal peoples and the colonization of the West, and take a stroll through the National Historical District of Stephen Avenue Walk.

In early July, the city is taken over by the Calgary Stampede. This cowboy festival is so popular that visitors have to book their tickets up to a year in advance!

DAY 3 - Calgary Waterton ( 256 km / 02h42 )

And let your Canadian road trip adventure begin! Your first destination is Waterton Lakes National Park, where the Prairies meet the peaks of the Rocky Mountains.

Discover some natural wonders, such as a canyon and cascades. Pay a visit to the lakeside village of Waterton, which will charm you with its quaint mountain village feel. Here you will find a historic hotel constructed in 1927 and the departure point for a variety of hiking trails and water activities.

DAY 4 - Waterton

Spend an enjoyable day exploring this National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site with its magnificent scenery and abundant and diverse flora and fauna.

No other national park in Canada protects so much wildlife within such a small area. Waterton Lakes National Park is home to more than 250 species of birds, 60 species of mammals, 24 species of fish and 10 species of reptiles and amphibians!

DAY 5 - Waterton Banff ( 373 km / 04h00 )

Your next destination is Banff, in the heart of the Rocky Mountains.

At an elevation of 1380 metres, this small resort town is known for its superb alpine setting.

Don't miss a relaxing visit to the Cave and Basin Hot Springs. After all, you are on holiday!

DAY 6 - Banff

Today we suggest a hike on Sulphur Mountain. The mountain trails will take you up through picture-postcard landscapes, and the summit provides a stunning view across the entire region. A gondola also goes up to the summit.

Do a bit of shopping in the famous town of Banff, whose streets are lined with an assortment of interesting boutiques.

DAY 7 - Banff Jasper ( 290 km / 03h38 )

This morning you set out for Jasper via the Icefields Parkway, considered to be one of the most beautiful roads in the world.

In addition to the stunning views, you have a good chance of seeing several species of wildlife beside the road, such as black bears, grizzly bears, elk, mountain goats, moose and bighorn sheep.

Plan to make a stop at Athabasca Glacier or the Sunwapta Falls and Canyon, a typical example of the geological formation known as a ''hanging valley''.

DAY 8 - Jasper

You have an entire day to spend in Jasper National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site.

Visit its most beautiful attractions, including the picturesque Maligne Lake and Spirit Island, the most photographed island in the world.

Take a hike along the spectacular trails of Maligne Canyon and Mount Edith Cavell.

For families with children or visitors looking for a less strenuous activity, the Peyto Lake trail offers an easy 15-minute walk to spectacular vistas.

DAY 10 - Jasper Wells Gray Provincial Park ( 322 km / 03h21 )

This morning you set out for Wells Gray Provincial Park.

Opportunities to see wildlife along the scenic Yellowhead Highway between Jasper and Mount Robson are  excellent, and are considerably higher during the two hours after sunrise.

Along the way, stop for a break at the foot of Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies.

Wells Gray Provincial Park is one of British Columbia's most spectacular wilderness parks, famous for its impressive waterfalls.

Wells Gray Park, often known as the Waterfall Park, is one of British Columbia's most spectacular wilderness parks.

In July and August, hiking trails lead to incredible sub alpine meadows of wildflowers on the slopes of Trophy Mountain.

And swimming enthusiasts are sure to want to cool off in the limpid waters of Clearwater Lake.

DAY 12 - Wells Gray Provincial Park Whistler ( 423 km / 05h15 )

The adventure continues in the direction of Whistler.

Nestled in a beautiful natural mountain setting, Whistler is a vibrant and lively resort town with a wide assortment of restaurants, boutiques and sidewalk cafes.

It is no surprise that Whistler, the number one ski resort in North America, was chosen to host the 2010 Winter Olympic Games!

DAY 13 - Whistler

Spend the day discovering Whistler's many attractions.

If you look up, you will see the "Peak 2 Peak" gondola connecting Whistler and Blackcomb mountains, offering the ultimate alpine experience. With a maximum height of 436 metres over Fitzsimmons Creek, Peak 2 Peak is the highest lift in the world.

DAY 14 - Whistler Pacific Rim ( 370 km / 06h36 )

Today you will take the panoramic ''Sea to Sky'' highway to the Pacific coast. Its stunning views will take your breath away. A ferry will then take you across to Vancouver Island, separated from the mainland by the Straight of Georgia, with the snowy peaks of the Coast Mountains for a backdrop.

Along the way to Ucluelet, be sure to stop at Cathedral Grove, a sacred place for the First Nations people where you will find enormous 800 year old Douglas firs. Take a walk through the forest and admire the enchanting ecosystem around you.

You reach your destination at the end of the day: Ucluelet, gateway to Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.

DAY 15 - Pacific Rim

Pacific Rim, a true paradise for outdoors enthusiasts and lovers of nature in all its splendour!

Here, like nowhere else in Western Canada, time has shaped nature into a unique ecosystem. With its sandy beaches and lush temperate rainforest, Pacific Rim is an enchanting location, both relaxing and invigorating in equal measure!

DAY 16 - Pacific Rim

Today is dedicated to exploring Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.

The Long Beach section, a long stretch of fine sandy beach pounded by the Pacific surf, is definitely a must-see. Discover this magical place with the help of several easy hiking trails.

You won't want to miss watching the sun set over the ocean from Radar Hill: the view is just incredible!

Be sure to take a scenic tour through the historic part of Victoria with a view of the ocean. If you're lucky, you may even spot a whale.

DAY 19 - Victoria Vancouver ( 117 km / 03h21 )

This morning you head for Vancouver.

After an enjoyable ferry ride, you will reach Canada's most beautiful metropolis, ranked as one of the best cities in the world in which to live.

Once you reach downtown Vancouver, pay a visit to the Harbour Centre Tower lookout. At a height of 167 metres, the panoramic view is a spectacular way to begin your stay in Vancouver.

DAY 20 - Vancouver

Vancouver is a relatively small city that is best explored on foot.

Spend the day exploring the city's attractions such as Stanley Park and Gastown, and do some shopping on Robson Street and Broadway Avenue. 

Don't miss a visit to the Vancouver Aquarium, which is home to a large number of marine mammals including dolphins, belugas, seals and sea otters.
