Gold Bridge and the Bridge River Valley region reflect the history of British Columbia with its railways, deserted towns, flooded valleys, old mines and trails.
The Gold Bridge region has been home to miners and their families since gold was discovered in the Bridge River in 1859. The gold rush began in the 1930s at the Bralorne-Pioneer Mine near Gold Bridge. It was the foremost gold producer in British Columbia, producing the equivalent of over $145 million in gold.
The mine closed in 1970, but you can take a trip into the past with a walk through its ruins and the nearby ghost towns. The region offers spectacular scenery featuring rugged mountains, canyons, mountain streams and deep blue lakes.
