Price double due to insurance

Everything from Pick-up to delivery went well. The rental car was payed for well in advance of our holidays.
On the website you read that another couple of 100$ will be charged (one-way fees) etc. so that your ready for this when you go to pick up the car. However... during the pick-up you're confronted with the insurance. The cheapest rate, which ich what we took, cost almost 40$ a day! We were in Canada for 25 days which meant we got, upon return home a final bill for 1.311CAD. The cost for the car rental doubled itself with inclusion of insurance. This is substantial an needs to be clearly mentioned for a clear overview of what the total cost of the rental will be in the end.
Although everything went well...this put a big damper on our level of satisfaction.
