We’ve just returned from an incredible two-week tour of Québec and what a holiday it was! From start to finish, everything was brilliantly organised and every stop on our journey felt iconic in its own right. Each place had its own charm and character, and together they made for a tour full of variety, discovery and plenty of “wow” moments.

The absolute highlights for us included seeing six-month-old wild bear cubs in their natural habitat (a memory we’ll treasure forever) and the breathtaking sight of blue whales breaking the surface of the water. Those were the pinch-yourself kind of experiences that make you realise just how special travel can be.

Our travel adviser, Alexia, deserves a huge thank you. She was patient, knowledgeable and full of great ideas as she helped us shape the perfect itinerary. Then, just a few weeks before the holiday, she worked wonders by rearranging the trip so our 21-year-old daughter could join us. That last-minute flexibility turned it into a true family adventure, which made it all the more memorable.

We couldn’t recommend Authentik highly enough. Their attention to detail, personal service and ability to create such a smooth and unforgettable holiday really set them apart. Québec has completely captured our hearts, and we’d love to return one day – though it’ll be hard to top this amazing trip! [...]

Had a great time in Eastern Canada, everyone we met at the Hotels, Auberges and Self Catering Accommodation were very friendly and helpful. It was useful having recommendations for places to visit and restaurants to eat in. Particularly enjoyed the Auberges and would stay in these more next time. Found driving around Montreal very stressful, as the road conditions and traffic is very confusing, otherwise main roads are easy to drive on. We were a bit worried about using the hire car on the unmade up roads which we had to use to get to a number of the properties. We went to some very memorable locations in the Haute Maurice and Saguenay areas and experienced wild life and nature at its best. [...]

Road trip in Quebec as a couple

My partner and I left for 15 days in September, including 10 on a road trip with Authentik: it was the ideal time, as we were lucky enough to see the scenery gradually transform from green to the beautiful orange hues of autumn. So, the trip was overall very positive. However, we were disappointed with some of the accommodations and stops. Unfortunately, our first choices of accommodation could not be honored, as they were quickly booked up even though we had reserved 5 months in advance.
We therefore had to make other choices out of frustration.
* The 5-star farm: this stop disappointed us greatly. The caged animals around the estate chilled us to the bone. Many seemed to be suffering, pacing in their enclosures. The evening meal taken on site was of very poor quality, and the accommodations were extremely noisy.
* Quebec City: the city did not impress us. Very touristy, with also a lot of poverty in the streets, we did not feel totally comfortable at times.
* Finally, regarding the accommodations, we sometimes paid more for rooms with two double beds when we had clearly specified that we were a couple and that one bed was enough. We would have appreciated it if this detail had been taken into account, in order to avoid extra costs.

Conversely, we would like to highlight our three big favorites:
* In Haute-Mauricie, the accommodation at La vieille école (The Old School): a charming place, with a warm welcome and excellent advice from our hosts.
* Also in Haute-Mauricie, the stay at the Seigneurie du Triton: a truly incredible experience, with memorable encounters and lovely people.
* Finally, in Charlevoix, at Cap aux Corbeaux (room n°6): an absolutely incredible view, a warm welcome and beautiful encounters with Quebecers. This stay will remain etched in our memories.

In summary, we have very fond memories of this trip, despite a few disappointments related to the accommodations. The positive experiences, especially our three favorites, marked our stay and we will remember them for a long time.
