PRINCE RUPERT

Located on the northern coast of British Columbia, Prince Rupert is a port city known for its natural harbor, one of the deepest and ice-free in the world.

A popular stop for cruise ships en route to Alaska, it is also the ideal starting point for wildlife excursions, including whale watching, orcas, grizzlies, and other wonders of Canada’s wild fauna.

Surrounded by the stunning landscapes of the Great Bear Rainforest and bordered by the Pacific Ocean, Prince Rupert captivates visitors with its warm atmosphere and untamed nature.

Its oceanic climate brings frequent rain showers, but also spectacular rainbows that illuminate the mountains and harbor waters. Here, after the rain always comes the sunshine – and most importantly, a unique light that enhances the breathtaking scenery of the northern coast.

Museum of Northern British Columbia

The Museum of Northern British Columbia celebrates the cultural and natural heritage of British Columbia's Northwest Coast. It houses the largest collection of First Nations artifacts in the region. 

The Museum Carving Shed, a working studio for First Nations artists, is open to the public. Visitors are always welcome to come and meet the artists.

Port of Prince Rupert

One of the largest ports on the west coast. You will feel very small next to the huge cruise ships and freighters that dock here every day!

Visit the Port Interpretive Centre in Atlin Terminal to learn about the port's history and operations.

Cow Bay District

This picturesque neighborhood with its colorful shops and charming cafés is the perfect spot for a relaxing waterfront stroll.

Annual Seafest

This community festival is held every year on the second weekend in June. Packed with ocean-themed events and activities, food booths, and entertainment in Prince Rupert’s downtown and on the waterfront, Seafest promises a weekend of fun for the whole family.
