1. Dome
It's hard to find something more intimate and cozy than the dome: with their large windows, domes put you front and center to enjoy the spectacle of nature. Some feature a spa on the terrace, while others even have windows in the ceiling, letting you admire the starry sky from your soft bed.
These unusual places offer a unique experience without compromising on comfort: imagine waking up to an exceptional panorama of forest or river, while enjoying modern conveniences.
Our favorites
Dômes Charlevoix
📍 Region: Charlevoix
Accessible in all seasons, Dômes Charlevoix belongs in the eco-luxe accommodation category: imagine the comfort and service of a 5-star hotel in a natural environment where nature reigns.
Located on a mountainside, you'll enjoy a magnificent view of the Charlevoix mountains and the St. Lawrence River from every unit.
The domes are equipped with a full kitchen, refined bathroom, two queen beds, a fireplace area, and a large terrace with a private spa.
A high-end site to add to your Quebec road trip itinerary if you want to treat yourself. Perfect for an unusual romantic night with magical moments guaranteed.
- Price: from $325 / night
Parc Aventures Cap Jaseux
📍 Saguenay

Located in the forest, the Cap Jaseux domes face the Saguenay Fjord. Imagine falling asleep with a view of the starry sky and waking up to the sound of the waves and the call of the loon.
Twenty feet in diameter, they are fully equipped and insulated. Ideal for a couple or a family with young children who wish to discover this unusual place.
On site, a wide range of outdoor activities are offered, such as kayaking, via ferrata, treetop courses and hiking. Whether for a night or a longer stay, you won't find time to be bored.
- Price: from $270 / night
Centre de l'Hêtre
📍 Capitale-Nationale

A prime place to recharge, the Centre de l'Hêtre is a 4-season site with a zen atmosphere unlike most.
The domes are equipped with a wood stove, potable water, and everything you need to cook, all in a preserved deep forest setting.
On site, a full relaxation program awaits you: yoga classes, meditation, massages, or mindful walks in the forest for an unrivaled sense of wellbeing.
An enchanting place just 25 minutes from downtown Quebec City, perfect for an unusual overnight escape close to Quebec City.
- Price: from $155 / night
2. Yurts
For an offbeat and exotic stay, why not try the yurt, the traditional nomadic dwelling from Asia.
With their round shape and single room, yurts encourage connection and conversation.
A perfect unusual accommodation for a getaway in harmony with nature.
Our favorites
Alfred le voisin d'Oscar
📍 Côte-Nord
I had the pleasure of staying in the yurt "la mer intérieure" last year during my family road trip in Quebec. To this day, it is my favorite of the unusual accommodations I have tried.
Nestled on rocky cliffs, facing the Saguenay fjord, the yurt allows you to witness the most beautiful sunsets from the terrace in complete privacy and, if you’re lucky, even spot belugas.
Inside, the decoration is very tasteful and warm, and the beds are as comfortable as any 5-star hotel.
- Price: from $288 / night
Borefüge
📍 Outaouais
Borefüge is a place for serenity and reflection, less than 45 minutes from Ottawa.
The yurts are close to ready-to-camp since you must bring your own bedding (sheets, blankets, sleeping bag), but the stylish decor gives a cozy feel to this extraordinary accommodation.
With its dome over 1.4 meters in diameter, you can enjoy this unique ready-to-camp experience in the heart of nature.
In addition to its unusual accommodations, you can enjoy several activities on site, such as hiking and canoeing in summer, dog sledding and snowshoeing in winter.
- Price: from $212 / night
3. Treehouses
Who hasn't wanted, as a child, to play adventurer in a treehouse?
It's time to make your dream come true—and, in turn, your kids' dreams if you're vacationing as a family in Quebec this summer.
A high-up experience everyone should try at least once.
Our favorites
Parc Aventures Cap Jaseux
📍 Saguenay
Cap Jaseux is a specialist in unusual accommodations in Quebec.
This time, my favorite goes to the treehouses (there are two in the park) perched more than 8 meters above ground.
The inside is fairly rustic, and can accommodate up to 5 people (either 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 young children). Here, we're not talking about houses on stilts, but real houses in the trees. In fact, the trunk that literally passes through the floor reminds me of a cabin straight out of a children's storybook.
From the terrace, the view of the fjord is unique. An experience "at the top," as they say.
- Price: from $270 / night
Au Diable Vert
📍 Eastern Townships
Located in the Eastern Townships, the Diable Vert site offers 8 treehouses.
Some are truly built around a tree, others on stilts, but either way, the effect is there.
I especially like the "Abénaki" cabin, built among the branches of a century-old maple. The inside is rustic but that doesn't get in the way of a comfortable, blissful night right in the heart of nature.
On site, there is a wide variety of activities: tubing down the river, kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, and "vélo volant" (bikes hanging from a cable at treetop level).
- Price: from $119 / night
4. Micro-cabins
The minimalist in you will love the concept.
Micro-cabins, also known as tiny houses, are small dwellings where everything essential fits into a very tiny space.
The perfect option for an intimate getaway, where relaxation and rejuvenation take center stage.### Our Favorite Addresses
Domaine Floravie
📍 Bas-Saint-Laurent
Time stands still (at least that's what every visitor would wish) when you're at Domaine Floravie.
Last year, I swapped my camper van to spend a night in a tiny house facing the St. Lawrence River.
From the very warm welcome to the discovery of our micro-chalet where everything was spotless, ergonomic despite the small size, and very cozy, everything was perfect.
And not to mention its ideal location facing the river. We saw one of our most beautiful sunsets of the road trip there.
A place just how I like it, where preservation of the site's natural environment is at the heart of their priorities.
- Price: from $208 / night
Repère Boréal
📍 Charlevoix
An address that I love very much and that I had already mentioned in my article about cottage rentals in Quebec.
Besides conventional-sized chalets, there are 3 micro-chalets situated in an enchanting woodland, all fully equipped and tastefully decorated using recycled materials.
Their large windows that reach up to the roof offer an unparalleled openness to nature. As night falls, you can admire the stars from your cozy bed.
A nice bonus, free access to the hot baths and sauna, so you can be sure to leave feeling refreshed and more relaxed than ever.
Certainly one of the most romantic places I know.
- Price: from $159 / night
5. Floating Accommodations
As Karolane explains in her article dedicated to the most beautiful lakes in Quebec, bodies of water represent 12% of the territory’s surface area, including 500,000 lakes!
To enjoy them differently than from a canoe, some very imaginative people have thought up unusual accommodations... on the water!
There’s nothing more peaceful than the lapping water to fall asleep to. Get ready for a serene and rejuvenating night.
Our Favorite Address
Domaine Pourki
📍 Montérégie
A touch of Bora Bora less than 35 minutes from Montreal? It's possible!
At Domaine Pourki, there are charming floating huts on the Richelieu River, accessible via a wooden dock.
Inside, simple but more than adequate equipment to ensure a most pleasant stay: a double bed, two single bunk beds, a small fridge, dishes, and a BBQ.
When evening comes, enjoy a drink on your private floating terrace and watch the sun set over the river. Magical.
- Price: from $195 / night
