Apartment type accommodation by the lake suited us very well as spacious with kitchen; therefore possibility of stalling at the accommodation in the evening with the little ones. The road directions (we didn't have a GPS) coupled with the given map, that was enough for us to get by without any problem (except in Quebec, there, it wasn't super exact).
One thing to mention maybe in the Roadbook: the last day, when we went back to Montreal and to the airport: allow 1 to 2 hours more to get there. They redo all the highways in the city during the summer, it took us nearly 2 hours to cover 20 kilometers... And there is no gas station near the airport to fill up.
