Niagara Falls are considered by many to be the eighth wonder of the world. While not exceptionally high (50 metres), the falls are among the most powerful waterfalls in North America. Be prepared to share the experience with the hordes of tourists who flock here to admire the awe-inspiring beauty of the falls.
NIAGARA FALLS
Niagara Falls are the most-visited falls in the world, welcoming some 12 million visitors each year. The Niagara Falls are renowned for their exceptional width, power and beauty. You are sure to be impressed!
SKYLON TOWER
Skylon Tower, which resembles a smaller version of Toronto's CN Tower, is one of the best spots from which to admire the falls, and offers spectacular views of the surrounding area, up to a distance of 100 kilometres on a clear day. The tower features three glass-walled elevators to transport visitors the 236 metres to the top in under a minute.
WALK FROM RAINBOW BRIDGE TO TABLE ROCK
This 1.6 km walk follows the river from Rainbow Bridge to Queen Victoria Park across from the majestic American Falls and then on to Table Rock , right beside the Canadian falls. In Table Rock House, elevators descend to a short tunnel leading to two outdoor observation decks directly behind the Falls.
WHITE WATER WALK
At White Water Walk, an elevator will take you down 70 metres to the bottom of Niagara Gorge.
From there, you can enjoy a walk along the boardwalk at the very edge of the mighty rapids of the Niagara River, one of the world's wildest stretches of whitewater.
BOAT RIDE TO THE BASE OF THE FALLS
If there is one Niagara Falls attraction that you simply mustn't miss, it's the legendary boat ride to the base of the falls. The Hornblower boat tour will take you past the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls before moving in close to the base of the horseshoe-shaped Canadian falls, where you will experience the awesome power, thundering water and amazing mist of the mighty falls in all their glory. You will be glad of the complementary raincoat before the ride is over!
JOURNEY BEHIND THE FALLS
To experience the ultimate Niagara adventure, you must first descend 125 feet underground and explore 130-year-old tunnels carved through the bedrock. You’ll feel the powerful vibrations of the Horseshoe Falls long before you see them. From the observation deck, at the base of this 13-story wonder, you’ll be awe-struck (and maybe a little bit wet) by the view.
THE WHIRLPOOL
You'll be transported through the air in an antique cable car, while far below the torrent of water abruptly changes direction and creates one of the world’s most mesmerizing natural phenomena – the Niagara Whirlpool. Note: not accessible for people with reduced mobility.
THE FALLS BY NIGHT
Every evening, the Falls are lit in the colours of the rainbow from 8:30 p.m. to midnight in summer (earlier in low season). In addition, between mid-May and mid-October, you can enjoy a spectacular firework display over the falls starting at 10 p.m., every night in high season and Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights in low season.
HELICOPTER FLIGHT OVER THE FALLS
The ultimate Niagara Falls experience is, without a doubt, a scenic helicopter ride over the falls! What better vantage point could there be for admiring the natural and man-made beauty of the town of Niagara? After a vertiginous ascent, you will soar over the majestic falls for breathtaking views of the mighty wonder of nature. A unique and unforgettable experience that will be etched in your memory forever!
NIAGARA PARKS POWER STATION
Dive into the incredible story of hydroelectricity through a new bilingual audio tour, included with general admission. Visitors will travel back in time to discover the evolution of the power station, guided by captivating audio stories. Then, feel the electric charge of Nikola Tesla’s groundbreaking work with a giant, working Tesla coil! Watch it crackle across the sky, offering visitors an unforgettable spectacle of unleashed electricity.
QUEEN STREET
Queen Street, commonly known as “The Q”, has been the heart of downtown Niagara Falls since the 1900s.
This is a quaint and dynamic district that offers something for everyone, with a wide variety of boutiques, restaurants, bars, cafés, theatre and much more.
NEARBY
NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE
Just twenty kilometres from Niagara Falls, Niagara-On-The-Lake is a charming small town on Lake Ontario at the mouth of the Niagara River. A well-preserved 19th-century village, Niagara-on-the-Lake is often described as the prettiest town in Ontario with its tree-lined streets, lush parks and impeccably restored houses.
Take a walk along its main street, Queen Street , which is lined with charming boutiques, restaurants, hotels, tea rooms and even a pharmacy dating back to 1866 (Niagara Apothecary). The region enjoys a unique microclimate similar to that of northern California, making it an excellent wine growing region and home to some of the best vineyards in Canada. A vineyard tour is a pleasure you won't want to miss.
