-We chose to road trip up the Saint Lawrence from Toronto and Niagara Falls to the estuary. We stopped in Ottawa, Montreal, Charlevoix, Escoumins, and finally Quebec City.
-Car rental with Thrifty went well (recent and reliable car; simple administrative procedures). We were surprised and worried by the vehicle inspection procedure, which doesn't account for minor damage (scratches and small dents). The rental agent upon arrival reassured us. However, it's still advisable to take photos and videos at check-in and check-out in case of billing after our return.
We were careful about the required fuel type (for us, regular unleaded) and the different way to refuel compared to France (see YouTube videos).
-Our flight was direct to Toronto and back from Quebec City (faster). Jet lag disturbed and tired us a bit. Air Transat is an excellent company. Choosing seats at the last minute can be a problem in case of health issues. We were able to anticipate with Emilie's help to request and obtain priority boarding and seats with more space.
-Each stop took us 2 or 3 necessary days to visit the cities and emblematic sites (we had a list of itineraries and some reservations already made on the suppliers' websites).
-A strong point: the very favorable Euro/Canadian dollar exchange rate.
-An unforgettable memory: the large number of whales observed by boat with the Essippit indigenous company in Escoumins. A great guide and an incredible approach within a few meters. A lot of emotion.
-Points of attention: distances are long and need to be anticipated well. It's important to have good travel insurance. We took Authentik cancellation insurance as well as a high-end credit card from the first payment (high-level insurance and assistance). As Orange subscribers, we subscribed to extended Canada plans for our smartphones (approximately 40 euros/1 month). GPS Maps works well, as does Whatsapp. We brought and appreciated a car smartphone holder with a cable and cigarette lighter socket. Car rental GPS is paid and costly. Tips are required for servers' wages (15%). Credit card payment terminals offer a choice of rate and add taxes. We had planned local currency for small purchases and tips for Valet services (5 dollars).
-Luggage needs to be studied precisely: suitcase size according to Air Transat and number of clothes. 1 checked bag each and a cabin bag. We brought enough to avoid hotel laundry, which would have been problematic. We brought clothes for cold, warm, and rainy weather. We did well.
-Weak points: some hotels with inconsistent logistics quality: ventilation noise at night; poor breakfast; price of parking with or without Valet service. Conversely, some were great (Natakam condos/Escoumins; Manoir Hortensia/Charlevoix). All displayed prices are excluding taxes and "services".
-A great trip, and we also had good weather (but cool). We used the boat trip offers at each site, which are a real plus for discovering things from a different angle.

Accommodations were very satisfactory overall except for Domaine de Valga, on one hand, located too far from Parc du Bic (2-hour round trip for the park), and on the other hand, a very basic comfort room and at the Motel aux Portes du Soleil, a room that needs renovation, and a very light breakfast served with a lot of cardboard (not very eco-friendly).
The "Authentic Canada" app is a plus; it’s a pity we got the information just before leaving, as we had already printed everything. We used it anyway except for the routes because the scenic roads are not listed (Chemin du Roy route 138, Route des Navigateurs 132...).
