Rental through Authentik was straightforward, exactly as described. Pick up with Dollar efficient but very expensive to alter any rental conditions, change to snow tyres, drop off, extension of rental!
Car on pick up was not cleaned properly, empty beer cans under seat! Car was adequate with no mechanical problems.
Awesome Rental Price
Car worked well. Low mileage and current year car. Avis wouldn't allow 2nd driver as listed per Authentik. Authentik reservation process easy. Would rent from this company again.
Simplicity
Arrived collected, no high pressure upgrade selling, just collect and go, booked a Ford explorer and got a Buick hence four stars not five, but happy with the car. Service through Authentic was superb, good communication and updated throughout.
Fair deal for moderate size car
Collecting the car was slow, but not as slow as your email suggested!!
Perfectly adequate car. We didn't need any of the extra insurance, but I would suggest you take it after seeing some of the incidents on the roads.
Canadian carousing
We used Thrifty at Vancouver airport, via Authentik Canada.
I always find it disconcerting when the hire company highlights supposed shortfalls in the hire agreement, especially if that has been done through an intermediary. Additional assistance, breakdown cover, insurance excess cover, provision of satnav etc. Add to this an offer to upgrade and you can easily double the initial rental fee.
To me, the whole process is designed to instill a sense of uncertainty. I resisted all the 'offers' and was absolutely delighted with the vehicle supplied.
It was clean, full of fuel, almost new, had plenty of connectivity, the size required, and very comfortable to drive.
I am unable to fault the car.
Collection beyond the sales pitch referred to was very easy and no queue (unlike the European offices that impose waits of up to two hours).
Drop off was equally seamless.

Mostly good
First impressions were not the best however on the whole we were happy with the rental. We had to wait a long time between seeing the agent and actually getting the car (the longest I have ever had to wait) The car was poorly cleaned especially the windscreen (inside) which I had to clean properly. However the car itself was nice and was a small upgrade on what we had booked which was nice, also a bright colour to stand out from the black and white. [...]
Okay
It all started well, booking through Authentik was seamless, collection of the car was okay however the car was filthy and did not have a full tank of fuel. Our rep in St John’s said please email if you need any help so when we got a crack in our windshield we did email………initially we had a response but then SILENCE! No help at all which was very disappointing and infuriating.
Drop off was quick but again I was informed that we would be emailed about the cost to repair the windshield……..NO EMAIL but they took $500 without any explanation!
I would use Authentik Canada again but not Thrity, terrible customer service and support.

Great Service but no tank of fuel
The office is situated close to Canada Place and was easy to walk to from our cruise ship.
The lady who served me was extremely pleasant and helpful, and even walked us to our rental car.
The car was of good condition and clean and tidy.
Downside we had paid for a tank of fuel but when we got to the car it had between a qtr to half a tank. We had the one-way rental drop off charge removed, but that was only $28 verse a tank of fuel costing around $100.
All in all this was the only issue we encountered.

Car was upgraded and immediately available when we got to the collection office in downtown Vancouver. Smooth collection and drop off process at Calgary airport
Good but not great.
Hidden charges and taxes once you pick up the car not as cheap as Authentik make out. Also paid taxes on original order then having to pay £150 more once picking car up. Be careful aswell as car apparently checked for mark scratches and windscreen cracks saying all fine but it wasn’t. Had to check car over myself to find loads than the paperwork said had to take pictures plus go back to the desk to notify them so there job got them. Just felt sneaky. [...]
Quality car hire
My car hire was made easy by the staff, the young lady who helped my with pick up was helpful and gave me great advice on driving in Canada.
The car was ok but I wish I’d upgraded for more comfort. No issues with the ford escape, it drove well, really good fuel economy.
Drop off was fast and efficient.
I will definitely use again

Car hire - picking up Montréal and dropping off in Toronto.
Really positive overall. Pick up in Montréal was due at 10.00am. I arrived early (9.30am) and was waiting for about thirty minutes whilst other customers were seen. Staff were happy with my pigeon French and happy to talk in English when I couldn’t explain myself! Given clear instructions on locating the car (in an underground car park in the same building. My only small disappointment was that I was assured the car was cleaned and had a full tank of petrol. It was clean but did still have empty drinks bottles in the rear seat pockets and the petrol tank wasn’t full.
Car (Ford Escape) was very new and in excellent condition. Lovely to drive and absolutely no complaints. Pretty economical and easy to use (cruise control and lane assist). AWD which I was able to use once on a steep gravel road.
Return at Toronto was easy once we’d found the car park ( locating the entrance wasn’t the easiest). Car parking was clearly marked for Thrifty in the underground car park and the key drop off was done in minutes.

Excellent car with satnav!
We were doing a holiday of a lifetime and wanted a decent car to navigate Canada with. We were originally told that GPS couldn't be guaranteed but our car was a Dodge and was superbly comfy, had the GPS and didn't guzzle as much fuel as we thought so we were very happy!
Great service and best value for money
Booked in advance and much more cost effective than my normal provider. Great communication and very friendly and professional. Would strongly recommend this company and happily use again.
Grim car, unclear cost
Collection was quick, as was return. Car was in poor condition with lots of scrapes and chips. I expected to pay 300 CAD but the exchange rate shows it to be 400 and I don't know why or whether a refund is on its way?

We had a great experience hiring a car for our trip through Canada with Authentik and Thrifty. Authentik were on hand to answer our questions and the whole thing went smoothly.

Not the best choice for a trip with a lot of driving
We were surprised at the 200k/day mileage limit. There are other choices in the market that don't have this.

Hassle free car hire
We had no problems with the car hire during our trip to Canada and it was helpful to know that Alyssa was available by email to help if we had any queries, (which we did a couple of times). The car was exactly what we had asked for and it was in great condition. The only issue that we had was a slightly slow process collecting the car at Calgary airport but, on the whole, we were very happy with our experience. [...]
Excellent service from both Authentik and Thrifty
The car and service were excellent. Authentik were very prompt on answering any questions I asked (e.g. about child car seats and how road tolls were dealt with).
Everthing was perfect
Picking up from AVIS was very quick and uncomplicated. The voucher did not have to be printed out. The return directly to the parking lot also took less than 5 minutes.
Authentic Canada's billing in British pounds surprised us a bit.

Exactly what we needed!
We hired our car through Avis and overall had a smooth experience. Pickup was a little on the slow side, but everything went through without any problems and the car itself was in perfect condition – clean, comfortable and clearly well maintained.
The drop-off at the airport was a bit chaotic with a few queues (more down to the airport setup than Avis), but once we found the right place, the handover was quick and simple.
All in all, a reliable and hassle-free service that helped make our trip run smoothly.

Rental for holiday
The car was great. However it would help when picking up the car that someone is on hand to talk through the major things to note about the car etc. I tried to ask staff but no one spoke English so I gave up and googled the answers etc more helpful staff please.
Great service and pleasant car
We had an amazing trip driving our Chevy Malibu through the Canada sceneries.
Everything in the car was perfect and well mantained, we felt safe on board and also Veronique of Authentik has been great and quick in responding to our question .
Only thing I suggest (to Avis) is to better signalize where to leave the car at Yqb because it was not very clear even though we managed to park it in the right spot
